Behringer Vintager

Best Deal j.mp Customer Reviews: "I got this guitar after stopping from playing 6 years earlier. I originally had a Squire Stratocaster which was destroyed in a house fire. Then i decided to take up guitar again after 6 years. I bought this package for 120, which included the fantastic little amp, the guitar, picks strap and soft case. The guitar has 3 single coil pickups, with a vintage sound, i get a good beatles sound using the bridge pickup on a clean sound. It has a nice action and didnt really need much set up, although i would change the nut or at least put some pencil graphite in there for now, my whammy bar cross threaded the day i set it up, but ive never found the need to use it, so im not bothered. The finish is nice, although im planning on stripping the paint and changing the colour. The neck is maple, with a maple fretboard and 22 medium frets, excellent quality neck, barring the nut, and the string trees are not sharp, but would be best to be replaced with rollers. The machine heads are not the best but will do the job if you have a tuner, im putting some locking tuners on. Im not a huge fan of the vibrato bridge, but it does the job nicely for the price. Sound is pretty nice but because i now have a epiphone dot (for my vintage sounding stuff) im going to make this my first customisation project, i'll be replacing the pups for a single humbucker and also the electronics, to make this more of a punk guitar, as ive started playing some of that. This is ...

Piano Accordions - How to Choose a Good One

!±8± Piano Accordions - How to Choose a Good One

Fire engine red accordions, green ones, black shiny ones - there's so many types of piano accordions to choose from!

So, how to chose the right instrument for you?

The first thing is that you need to feel comfortable playing it. So, if you're petite it needs to be not too heavy for you. Generally, lighter accordions tend to be more expensive, but it could be well worth it if it means you'll play your new instrument more. Make sure the accordion's not simply too big for you to play properly sitting down or standing. You want to be able to easily pull the bellows in and out. A 100% in tune accordion is very vital, because you also are training your ear every time you play. And when you start to play with other people perfect pitch is crucial.

Do you want the full base (120) or a smaller, lighter less complex instrument? Full base accordions are often heavier, but this is balanced by the fact that you get a bigger range. You might also want to consider where it's made. The Italian and German ones are more likely to be handmade accordions, and this usually means a sweeter tone. The amount of vibrato is also a consideration. Vibrato lends warmth and richness to the note and you can actually have this adjusted. More vibrato goes well with French style music, but not so much for classical.

The number of couplers gives you a bigger range of sounds you can produce. The minimum number for a good range of different sounds is three. Couplers give you a choice of a base through to treble tone using extra reeds on each note. The more couplers, the more tones you can get - but you get added weight as well.

Now the reeds in most accordions are made out of steel reeds. But if you live near the sea, (or play your accordion on the beach) you should get stainless steel reeds - otherwise the sea air could rust them. You'll want to test every key on the intake and the out take of the bellows. EVERY key. Otherwise you might get stuck with that one bung note that's going to annoy you until you get it fixed or buy a new accordion.

Make sure the straps are strong and padded, and easily adjustable to just the right length for you. You need to feel easy holding the instrument, like it fits you perfectly. A good case comes in handy too. Accordions are complex machines, and protecting them while they're being transported is much easier with a solid case. A word to the wise - never ever leave and accordion in a hot place (like the boot of your car in summer.) The wax that holds the reeds could melt, leaving your lovely reeds in a useless pile. This can be fixed, but it's expansive and time consuming.

And I've got to admit it - piano accordions are beautiful looking musical instruments. The really top ones and the very old ones are works of art. Filigreed, embossed, ornamented - better than a sculpture on your mantelpiece. If you want to get really upmarket, there's even electronic ones, accordions with a microphone inside them. (Very handy if you want to play with louder instruments like percussion.) If you take your amplified sound quality seriously, then a built in high quality microphone will be worth a look.

Lastly, it seems like a good accordion player makes his or her instrument come to life. It's almost breathing, as the music flows out of it. So, when you're choosing a piano accordion, you need to really BOND with it. It's going to be really close to you when you play, so if you can feel like you're almost breathing with it, it may just be the one for you.:)

Leather Guitar Straps - Comfortable, Durable and Stylish

!±8± Leather Guitar Straps - Comfortable, Durable and Stylish

For true quality, there's really no substitute for a well-made leather guitar strap. When it comes to comfort, a wide, padded leather strap is hard to beat.

Some of the most popular leather straps are made by Levy, and are any where from 2 1/2" to 3 1/2" inches wide. They're also padded with foam, and often have a boot leather outer surface, combined with a soft, "garment" leather inner surface.

By almost all accounts, the Levy straps are very well made, and will last as long as most players care to use them. In addition to the boot leather, garment leather combination, they also make an Italian glove leather model, and a soft suede design that is very comfortable. Levy straps are not terribly expensive either, considering their high-quality and leather construction. You can expect to pay anywhere from to about for one of these straps.

Moving up to the boutique level, some of the finest guitar straps currently available are made by Moody Leather. Although they're not cheap, costing anywhere from 0 on up, they're the strap of choice for many famous musicians. Moody Leather is the creation of Allison Suter, who first learned to work leather by creating a deer-leather jacket for her F-15 fighter pilot father, Richard "Moody" Suter, hence the name. The marketing collateral featuring Ms. Suter is not bad either.

If you're looking for something a bit more old school and traditional, you can't go wrong with Franklin Straps. If you close your eyes and picture a traditional leather guitar strap that might be used by Merle Haggard or George Jones, you will most likely imagine something that looks a lot like a Franklin Strap. Franklin Straps are truly beautiful works of art, and come in a wide range of styles, not just the Merle or George look. There's sculpted latigo leather, suede, chrome, graphic and southwest series.

Regardless of what style, material or price level you decide on, it's hard to beat a quality leather strap for your guitar. They're more comfortable, especially for a heavy guitar like a Les Paul or an archtop, they will last almost forever. And, let's face it, they just look damn good.

Good luck and happy playing!
